MSBOA STATE BAND FESTIVAL is THIS WEEK on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Belding High School.
STUDENTS: EMAIL MR. KOLLIPARA AND SEE HIM IN BAND SEMINAR ON TUESDAY OR THURSDAY IF YOU ARE MISSING ANY UNIFORM ITEMS.
Symphonic Band 9/10 reports to the Band Room at 8:00 AM in Summer Uniform, performs at Belding HS at 12:45 PM, and returns to NHS by 4:00 PM. There are 2 of 4 bus chaperone slots filled for SB 9/10, but 2 more is best so we have 2 per bus.
Symphonic Band 11/12 reports to the Band Room at 10:00 AM in Tuxedo, performs at Belding HS at 3:10 PM, and returns to NHS by 6:30 PM. There are 2 of 4 bus chaperone slots filled for SB 11/12, but 2 more is best so we have 2 per bus.
The 1B Jazz Ensemble class has several open chairs for the 2026-27 school year, with no audition.
Please contact your counselor to make a change to your schedule to join the class. The bulk of the band this year is made up of seniors who will be graduating on May 31. It is up to the underclass students to take advantage of this opportunity! The directors will provide a jazz instrument and help you learn it if you do not know how to play one already.
The “All-American” Spring Band Concert is on Tuesday, May 19. The Band Awards Ceremony & Banquet is the following day on Wednesday, May 20.

2026 Band Camp is Wednesday, August 12 – Thursday, August 27.
These dates are listed at the bottom of the current 2025-26 Band Packet along with the home & away football game schedule. More details about 2026 Band Camp and the rest of the band events in the 2026-27 school year will be sent out within the next month or so.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29: Tri-M Spring Concert
- Tri-M Spring Concert @ 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the NHS Auditorium. Entry is free!
THURSDAY, APRIL 30: Music Leadership Workshop (optional)
- Music Leadership Workshop in Orchestra/Ensemble Room 132 @ 6:00 – 7:00 AM with Dr. Ray-Hepp. These optional workshops held on Thursday mornings are open to all NHS music students.
FRIDAY, MAY 1: MSBOA STATE BAND FESTIVAL
- Event Details: MSBOA STATE BAND FESTIVAL

- Attire: Concert Uniform
- Symphonic Band 9/10: Band Polo tucked into black dress pants (no jeans, sweatpants, yoga pants, etc…), black belt (if needed), long black socks (without logos), and marching shoes.
- Symphonic Band 11/12: Tuxedo (jacket, pants, shirt, bowtie), long black socks (without logos), and marching shoes.

- Location: Belding High School – 850 Hall St, Belding, MI 48809
- Symphonic Band 9/10: Report to Band Room in Summer Uniform at 8:00 AM; Perform at 12:45 PM; Return to NHS by 4:00 PM
- Symphonic Band 11/12: Report to Band Room in Tuxedo at 10:00 AM; Perform at 3:10 PM; Return to NHS by 6:30 PM
- From NHS, students are bussed to and from festival. Students must ride the bus to festival. Percussion and larger instruments are transported via trailer. The trailer will go with SB 9/10 and return with SB 11/12. SB 9/10 brings all percussion instruments that are also needed for SB 11/12. All other instruments are transported via bus. Students are responsible for ensuring that the instrument and equipment they specifically use are loaded and unloaded from the trailer and buses, and safely transported to and from festival. Students may return from festival with parents, but must notify Mr. Kollipara & Mr. Rumbell before leaving.
- DRUMLINE: Take drums home after festival for the Lacrosse Victory Day performance on Sunday.
SUNDAY, MAY 3: Drumline @ Lacrosse Victory Day Game
- Drumline @ Lacrosse Victory Day Game…NOTE TIME CHANGE BELOW!!!
- Report to 8 Mile “Northville Sports Den” Stadium @ 10:40 AM in Drumline Hoodie. Perform @ 10:50 AM and throughout game from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM.
- Pizza provided afterwards.

- Several NHS Music Boosters Board positions for the 2026-27 school year are open: President, Treasurer, Secretary, Website Designer, IT (to help with credit card payments for donations and raffle tickets), and Fundraising. Contact Mr. Kollipara if interested. Thank you to Carin Lawing and Lora Graentzdoerffer for continuing their positions!
- Designate the Boosters to earn money when you shop at Kroger and Busch’s. These programs require an annual renewal.
