MONDAY, OCTOBER 30: Jazz Ensemble Rehearsal & NHS Orchestra Concert

  • Jazz Ensemble after-school rehearsal. Meet in the band room at 2:30 – 3:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until the Band-O-Rama Concert on Friday, December 1, 2023.
  • NHS Orchestra’s Halloween-themed concert is entitled Music of the Night. This is the first year of the NHS orchestra! Join them on Monday, October 30 at 7:00 PM in the NHS Auditorium. Purchase tickets here on Ludus. All proceeds go to the Orchestra Program. Free admission for senior citizens and students 12 and under using the discount codes OVER65 and UNDER12. Staff are free using discount code STAFF23.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31: Jazz Ensemble Rehearsal

  • Jazz Ensemble after-school rehearsal. Meet in the band room at 2:30 – 3:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until the Band-O-Rama Concert on Friday, December 1, 2023.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1: Percussion Ensemble Octet Rehearsal

  • Percussion Ensemble Octet seminar rehearsal. Meet in the band room during 1A Seminar at 7:30 – 8:20 AM. These rehearsals will be announced weekly (based on student vote) and are in preparation for their performance of Sonatine at District Solo & Ensemble Festival on Saturday, February 10, 2024 (in addition to Pre-Festival Concert 2 and the Spring Concert).

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2: Jazz Ensemble Rehearsal

  • Jazz Ensemble after-school rehearsal. Meet in the band room at 2:30 – 3:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until the Band-O-Rama Concert on Friday, December 1, 2023.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3: PEP BAND @ Home Football Playoff Game vs. Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks

  • The Pep Band will perform at the Northville vs. CC Home Football Playoff Game this Friday, November 3. This playoff game was just added over the weekend due to our victory against Brighton!
  • For all information and to sign-up for Pep Band, go to the NEW PLAYOFF GAME GOOGLE FORM. Even if you signed up before on the other Google Form for the previous games, you must sign-up again on the new Google Form in order to participate.
  • We only need chaperones for this game – go to SignUp Genius. Since the full band will not be attending, pizza/drinks will not be served, but concessions will be available.

  • This parade is at 6:30 PM on Friday, November 17 and precedes the tree lighting ceremony at 8:00 PM in the Northville Town Square (note that the City changed the date of the parade after the original band schedule was sent – ensure that Friday 11/17 is in your personal/family calendars, not Saturday 11/18).
  • The band will march in the parade performing “A Christmas Special.”
  • Visit the Northville Chamber of Commerce website for more information about the parade.

BAND-O-RAMA CONCERT

  • The Band-O-Rama Concert is at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 1 and features the Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Bands, Drumline, and a Marching Band finale.

VARSITY FOOTBALL – Northville vs. CATHOLIC CENTRAL

The Northville High School Varsity Football Team will face off the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks at Tom Holzer Stadium for this playoff game. The Mustang Marching Band’s Pep Band will play a selection of their repertoire in the main stands.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27: Home Football Game vs. Brighton Bulldogs

The full marching band will perform at the Northville vs. Brighton Home Football Game this Friday, October 27. This is a playoff game that was just added over the weekend. Same protocols as all other Home Football Games.

Band Help: We have a trailer driver, but we need a couple more parents to help with pizza/drinks – Band Volunteering

Music Boosters: Please consider volunteering to sell raffle tickets during the football game (4-6 volunteers needed; contact Kevin Kobelsky) and purchase some of your own – Raffle Tickets

  • Attire: Marching Uniform
  • Locations: Plateau / Tom Holzer Stadium
  • Load Trailer at NHS (Leadership, Front Ensemble, Sousaphones, Color Guard): 4:00 PM
  • Report to Plateau (all students): 5:00 PM
  • Pre-Game: 6:40 PM (Washington Post in “N” formation)
  • Kickoff: 7:00 PM
  • Halftime: Aretha Franklin Show (show shirts will be available for sale at the game – see Adam to purchase)
  • Post-Game Performance: concert formation at end of game
  • Leadership, Front Ensemble, Sousaphones, Color Guard: load trailer at the end of the game then meet at NHS to unload

Home Football Game vs. Brighton Bulldogs

VARSITY FOOTBALL – Northville vs. Brighton

The Northville High School Varsity Football Team will face off the Brighton Bulldogs at Tom Holzer Stadium for this playoff game. The Mustang Marching Band will take the field at pre-game with a performance of the Washington Post March while in the “Block N” formation, as well as a selection of popular tunes. At halftime, the band presents their 2023 Marching Show entitled “The Queen of Soul: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin.” At the end of the game, the band will wrap up the evening with more popular tunes.

Week of October 16

MSBOA SOLO & ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL – This is an optional event in addition to the band program’s curriculum. Students sign up to perform a solo or ensemble music selection. The deadline to register for MSBOA District XII Solo & Ensemble Festival is TODAY, October 20 @ 4:00 PM. Click here for information and click here to register. You must print the form and submit it with payment to the white mailbox in the band room (on top of the file cabinet next to the music library) or give it to Adam at Pep Band at 4:00 PM today. Email Adam at kolliparaad@northvilleschools.org only with questions that are not answered in the 2 links above.

NOTE: Percussion Ensemble Octet students that were selected by Adam will not submit a registration form for that specific performance. Adam has already registered the group, but the members will need to pay $10 each to cover the registration fee. If you are performing additional solos/ensembles, you must submit registration forms for those events.

  • NHS Music Boosters will hold their monthly meeting for October at the Northville District Library in the Carlo Meeting Room at 7:00 PM.

  • The band’s policies and procedures must be followed in addition to reporting absences during the school day (see Northville High School’s Attendance Guidelines).

MSBOA SOLO & ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL – This is an optional event in addition to the band program’s curriculum. Students sign up to perform a solo or ensemble music selection. MONDAY, OCTOBER 9: Front Ensemble Sectional

  • The sectional will be held in the band room at 2:30 – 4:30 PM.
  • Front Ensemble members will work on music and coordination for home games and Pep Band.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10: Pep Band Rehearsal in Seminar

  • Rehearsal is in the band room at 7:30 – 8:20 AM. Due to preparation for testing on Thursday, October 12, Freshmen/Sophomores/Juniors will come and go as needed depending on their assigned times to go to their testing room for a “Digital Readiness Check” (proctors will take attendance, pass out testing tickets and devices, and assist students with logging into Bluebook).
    • Seniors have no schedule disruptions. Report to the band room for Pep Band rehearsal at 7:30 – 8:20 AM.
    • Juniors will report to the band room for Pep Band rehearsal at 7:30 AM. Report to testing rooms at 8:00 – 8:30 AM.
    • Freshmen and Sophomores will report to their testing room at 7:20 – 7:50 AM. Report to the band room afterwards for Pep Band rehearsal.
  • This week’s game is on Friday, October 13 at Novi High School (24062 Taft Rd, Novi, MI 48375).
  • Next week’s game (just announced) is on Friday, October 20 at Belleville High School (501 W Columbia Ave, Belleville, MI 48111).

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10: Front Ensemble Sectional

  • The sectional will be held in the band room at 2:30 – 4:30 PM.
  • Front Ensemble members will work on music and coordination for home games and Pep Band.

A large turnout is expected at this game, so we must be as condensed as possible at the north end of the visiting bleachers.
