Week of October 23

  • Jazz Ensemble after-school rehearsal. Meet in the band room at 2:30 – 3:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until the Band-O-Rama Concert on Friday, December 1, 2023.
  • Percussion Ensemble seminar rehearsal. Meet in the band room during 1A Seminar at 7:30 – 8:20 AM. These rehearsals will be announced weekly (based on student vote) and are in preparation for District Solo & Ensemble Festival on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

The full marching band will perform at the Northville vs. Brighton Home Football Game this Friday, October 27. This is a playoff game that was just added over the weekend. Same protocols as all other Home Football Games.

  • This is the first year NHS has an orchestra! Join the NHS Orchestra at their Halloween-themed concert on Monday, October 30 at 7:00 PM in the NHS Auditorium.
  • Purchase tickets on Ludus: Music of the Night. All proceeds go to the program.
  • Senior citizens and students 12 and under are free using the discount codes OVER65 and UNDER12. Staff is free using the code STAFF23.

  • A limited supply of extra shirts (S/M/L) have been ordered and can be purchased on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. See Adam to purchase with cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle – T-shirts ($24), crewnecks ($39), hoodies ($49).

  • This parade is at 6:30 PM on Friday, November 17 and precedes the tree lighting ceremony at 8:00 PM in the Northville Town Square (note that the City changed the date of the parade after the original band schedule was sent – ensure that Friday 11/17 is in your personal/family calendars, not Saturday 11/18).
  • The band will march in the parade performing “A Christmas Special.”

  • The Band-O-Rama Concert is at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 1 and features the Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Bands, Drumline, and a Marching Band finale.

Home Football Game vs. Brighton Bulldogs

The Northville High School Varsity Football Team will face off the Brighton Bulldogs at Tom Holzer Stadium for this playoff game. The Mustang Marching Band will take the field at pre-game with a performance of the Washington Post March while in the “Block N” formation, as well as a selection of popular tunes. At halftime, the band presents their 2023 Marching Show entitled “The Queen of Soul: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin.” At the end of the game, the band will wrap up the evening with more popular tunes.

Week of October 16

MSBOA SOLO & ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL – This is an optional event in addition to the band program’s curriculum. Students sign up to perform a solo or ensemble music selection. The deadline to register for MSBOA District XII Solo & Ensemble Festival is TODAY, October 20 @ 4:00 PM. Click here for information and click here to register. You must print the form and submit it with payment to the white mailbox in the band room (on top of the file cabinet next to the music library) or give it to Adam at Pep Band at 4:00 PM today. Email Adam at kolliparaad@northvilleschools.org only with questions that are not answered in the 2 links above.

NOTE: Percussion Ensemble Octet students that were selected by Adam will not submit a registration form for that specific performance. Adam has already registered the group, but the members will need to pay $10 each to cover the registration fee. If you are performing additional solos/ensembles, you must submit registration forms for those events.

  • NHS Music Boosters will hold their monthly meeting for October at the Northville District Library in the Carlo Meeting Room at 7:00 PM.

  • Jazz Ensemble will rehearse from 2:30 – 3:30 PM in the band room.

Percussion Ensemble Octet will met in the band room during 1A Seminar from 7:30 – 8:20 AM to receive music for Solo & Ensemble and rehearse.

  • The band’s policies and procedures must be followed in addition to reporting absences during the school day (see Northville High School’s Attendance Guidelines).

Week of October 9

MSBOA SOLO & ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL – This is an optional event in addition to the band program’s curriculum. Students sign up to perform a solo or ensemble music selection.   • The sectional will be held in the band room at 2:30 – 4:30 PM.
  • Front Ensemble members will work on music and coordination for home games and Pep Band.

  • Rehearsal is in the band room at 7:30 – 8:20 AM. Due to preparation for testing on Thursday, October 12, Freshmen/Sophomores/Juniors will come and go as needed depending on their assigned times to go to their testing room for a “Digital Readiness Check” (proctors will take attendance, pass out testing tickets and devices, and assist students with logging into Bluebook).
    • Seniors have no schedule disruptions. Report to the band room for Pep Band rehearsal at 7:30 – 8:20 AM.
    • Juniors will report to the band room for Pep Band rehearsal at 7:30 AM. Report to testing rooms at 8:00 – 8:30 AM.
    • Freshmen and Sophomores will report to their testing room at 7:20 – 7:50 AM. Report to the band room afterwards for Pep Band rehearsal.
  • This week’s game is on Friday, October 13 at Novi High School (24062 Taft Rd, Novi, MI 48375).
  • Next week’s game (just announced) is on Friday, October 20 at Belleville High School (501 W Columbia Ave, Belleville, MI 48111).
  • The sectional will be held in the band room at 2:30 – 4:30 PM.

Parents, please arrive at the Cooke side of the track (northwest corner near the concessions) at 6:15 PM. Line up alphabetically by last name and await further instructions from coordinators. Seniors will be announced shortly thereafter.

Senior Night Football Game vs. Hartland Eagles

The Northville High School Varsity Football Team will face off the Hartland Eagles at Tom Holzer Stadium. The Mustang Marching Band will take the field at pre-game with a performance of the Washington Post March while in the “Block N” formation, as well as a selection of popular tunes. Homecoming Parade & Football Game vs. Salem Rocks

The Mustang Marching Band will participate in Homecoming Parade at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 29. The parade begins at the intersection of Main & Hutton and ends at Tom Holzer Stadium. The Mustang Marching Band will take the field at pre-game around 6:40 PM with a performance of their 2023 Marching Show entitled “The Queen of Soul: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin.” The Northville High School Varsity Football Team will then face off the Salem Rocks at 7:00 PM. At halftime, the Homecoming Court will be presented, preluded by the Mustang Marching Band. At the end of the game, the band will wrap up the evening with popular tunes.
