The NHS Mustang Marching Band will participate in the Independence Day Parade. ALL BAND MEMBERS, including graduated seniors, participate in this special performance. The band will perform A Salute to Freedom, You’re a Grand Old Flag, and God Bless America while marching the parade.

From the Northville Chamber of Commerce: Hundreds of parade participants march through Downtown Northville, while thousands of spectators line the streets. The Northville Independence Day Parade features bands, floats, professional team mascots, antique cars, and more. Join us on July 4th, as we celebrate the country from sea to shining sea.

Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors will perform Pomp & Circumstance for the Class of 2025 Commencement. The ceremony will be livestreamed here on the Northville High School Website.

The Drumline will perform at the entrance of NHS as the senior car parade enters the school parking lot. SENIORS: The information below has already been sent to you.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform from 7:00 – 9:00 PM on the Northville Town Square stage to kick-off Northville’s Friday Night Summer Concert Series.

Leadership clinics prepare students interested in auditioning for band leadership for the next school year: Drum Majors, Assistant Drum Majors, Section Leaders (woodwind, brass), and Section Captains (Drumline, Front Ensemble, Color Guard, Sousaphone). Returning leadership members attend clinics and the audition. The audition tests vocal commands, facings, marching, conducting, and includes written essays. All those who accept the leadership positions they are offered must attend all band events and arrive before report times.

The NHS Mustang Marching Band will participate in the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. They will perform A Salute to Freedom, You’re a Grand Old Flag, and God Bless America during the parade, and God Bless America and the Star Spangled Banner for the ceremony. The band is dismissed after the ceremony, and Guernsey provides free ice cream in the Casterline Funeral Home parking lot.

From the Northville Chamber of Commerce: The Memorial Day Parade is an observance to honor and mourn the US Military personnel who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Spectators line the streets in a show of support to remember the fallen. More information can be found at the Northville Chamber of Commerce Website.

The Band Awards Ceremony & Banquet is on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. We’re excited for this special end-of-year event for band students in all grades and their family members!

The event will include a review of this past year, recognition of our award-winning bands, distribution of band awards (festival medals, letters, numbers, pins), paper plate awards, a photo slideshow of our seniors and the events of this past year, food, and live jazz.

It will begin in the auditorium at 6:30 PM with the ceremony (no RSVP). After the awards, we will move to the cafeteria, and a catered dinner from Genitti’s (all students & family must RSVP) will be served at 7:30 PM. The Jazz Ensemble will perform in the cafeteria after dinner at 8:15 PM. Please note that you do not need to RSVP “yes” for the dinner in order to join us in the cafeteria after the ceremony; stick around to socialize and enjoy the live music performance!

All who would like the catered dinner must RSVP by Monday, May 12! Band students and siblings 9 years and under are free of charge; parents/adults and siblings 10 years and over are $25.

The “All-American” Spring Concert features all NHS Bands: Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Band 9/10, Symphonic Band 11/12, and a Combined Band grand finale of patriotic selections.

The NHS Music Boosters will meet at 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025 in the Northville High School Forum. The NHS Forum is located at the east end of the NHS “Main Street” hallway, with entrances on each side of the Mustang mural.

Any band, choir, and orchestra parents are encouraged to join Music Boosters Meetings, especially this meeting since it is a very important one. We will be wrapping up this year, handing over leadership roles, and doing some preliminary planning for next year.

MSBOA State Band Festival will be held at Detroit School of Arts HS on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Symphonic Band 9/10 reports to NHS at 8:45 AM in Summer Uniform, performs at 12:00 PM, and returns to NHS by 2:00 PM. Symphonic Band 11/12 reports to NHS at 12:30 PM in Tuxedo, performs at 3:45 PM, and returns to NHS by 5:45 PM.

From NHS, students are bussed to and from festival. Percussion instruments and larger wind instruments are transported to festival on the trailer with Symphonic Band 9/10, and the trailer returns with Symphonic Band 11/12. All other instruments are taken on the buses.

State Band Festival is a required and graded performance for all band students.
